The Indy Jazz Festival, presented by Marsh, in Indianapolis announces that current Cole Porter Fellow, Dan Tepfer, has been added to the lineup of this prestigious festival presented yearly.

Dan will appear in the opening music spot all week. This year the festival, which runs 9/19 - 9/27, presents legendary musicians such as The Joshua Redman Trio, Randy Brecker, Kurt Elling, Nicholas Payton, Poncho Sanchez, Marcus Miller, Rufus Reid and a host of others, placing Dan in great company.

Currently touring in support of his newest work, “Variations on Goldberg" including cities such as Toronto, Chicago, Ann Arbor and his recent intimate concert at the beautiful Palias Royale in South Bend, Indiana this past Sunday, Dan continues to receive glowing reviews from such newspapers as the New York Times, Time Out New York, Chicago Reader and The Boston Globe.

Jack Walton, of the South Bend Tribune, acclaimed in his recent story on Dan:

His recently released album, 12 Improvisations in 12 Keys, finds Tepfer creating a tonal and harmonic world that can conjure Alexander Scriabin's mystical investigations one minute and Lennie Tristano's cool, cerebral swing the next. Tepfers other new album, Duos with Lee, is a captivating jam session with alto saxophone titan Lee Konitz. The pianist, born in 1982, and the alto player, born in 1927, create themeless, sometimes formless short works that exist somewhere between academic jazz and contemporary classical music. Tepfer's remarkable compositions also appear on his jazz trio albums Before the Storm and Oxygen".
