The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra to Present "Big Band Meets Hollywood" at Folly Theater

The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jim Mair, will present Big Band meets Hollywood in the orchestra's first concert of the season Friday September 25 at 8:00PM

The concert will headline the 18- piece big band made up of Kansas City's finest jazz players performing hip arrangements from movies and television shows. Some of the movie themes will include music from the top 100 movies of all time. Music from the Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, The theme from Rocky, Casablanca, too many to name but very enjoyable. Do you remember the theme from Mannix, from Barney Miller, Johnny Carson's Tonight Show? The evening will also include a special performance by vocalist Sherry Jones.

This concert will include a name that tune TV theme contest with prizes. Movie and television photos will accompany the music on an overhead screen while the KCJO is performing and complimentary popcorn will be available n the lobby to capture the movie experience.

Combine the musical precision and artistry of The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, the wit of musical director Jim Mair along with vocalist Sherry Jones and the most memorable television and movie music wrapped up in Big Band meets Hollywood and you have a one-of-a-kind concert….an exhilarating musical extravaganza not to be missed.
