Jazz Pianist James Williams Dies at 53

James Williams, a jazz pianist and professor of music who recorded with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and in his own ensembles, has died. He was 53.

Williams, who lived in Brooklyn, died Tuesday of liver cancer, said Jenise Grice, fiancee of Williams' nephew.
