Flutology performance on Saturday, January 24th at 5 p.m. at the Sheraton New York's Imperial Ballroom. Flutology's the great new band featuring a front-line of three world-class flutists -- Frank Wess, Holly Hofmann and Ali Ryerson. Their performance will include music from their exceptional Capri release First Date. As Irwin Block says in the Montreal Gazette: 4-stars. The musicians cook throughout this disc's 52-plus minutes, underscoring the flute's relevance as lead voice in a mainstream jazz unit. The players just sing to you... (with) infectious exuberance..."

Bassist Percy Heath, who is about to release his debut CD as a leader (believe it or not!) A Love Song (Daddy Jazz Records, February 24) will be playing with the Heath Brothers at the NEA Jazz Masters Award Concert on Friday, January 24th at 8 p.m.

Vocalist Madeline Eastman whose recent CD The Speed of Life showcases her extraordinary talent. As the Chicago Reader has said about Eastman “Eastman's great contribution lies in the tough, contemporary edge she brings to her music. She sings for adults; she even makes you glad to be one."

Saxophonist Andy Middleton, whose fourth CD Reinventing the World (with Kenny Wheeler and Nils Wogram) is starting a real buzz. “Middleton possesses the goods and wherewithal to become a major influence within progressive jazz circles." - Glenn Astarita, All About jazz

Pianist Pete Malinverni who will have a new CD The Tempest coming out on Reservoir this Spring. “The equilibrium achieved when a first-rate pianist finds a groove with a telepathic rhythm section is one of the transcendent satisfactions of mainstream jazz. The ingredients are in place here, as Malinverni meets two fellow passengers in swing." - Steve Futterman, The New Yorker.

The great New York-based Sons of Sound label is home to artists like Gene Bertoncini, Jay Leonhart, Bob Sneider, Mike Holober and Andy Parsons among many others -- will have a booth in the main exhibition hall - IAJE Conference Exhibitor booth 213. Their next release is drummer Akira Tana's Moon Over The World, with Rufus Reid and Ted Lo, out February 16.
