Relentless For A Cure
Deborah Davis & The Blue Note Jazz Club
Announce the 12th Annual Jazz Benefit Concert for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Its that time again. Jazz Vocalist, Deborah Davis & The Blue Note Jazz Club (NYC) announce their 12th Annual Jazz Benefit Concert for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The benefit has been held annually the first Monday of the year since 1998. It's a simple concept where one night a year the entire door charge is donated to LLS. Everything else is just business as usual, great music, food, drinks, fun, good friends, at a great jazz club.

Deborah began campaigning for the Leukemia Society in 1997 by running a marathon in Dublin Ireland with the Team in Training campaign. Deborah finished that 26.2 mile marathon, but thought to herself, there has to be a better way. It was during the last 8 miles when she realized that she already had a much better platform for raising funds. After learning that the Blue Note family also had a close link to the disease she ask them to donate the cover charge from her show once per year to the cause. It was such an exciting concept that one year they did it twice. Deborah & The Blue Note continue the concerts in honor of her father Douglas E. Davis, Sr. who lost his battle with the disease in 1981, saxophonist Michael Brecker, journalist and jazz fan Ed Bradley, The Blue Note Family, and on behalf of all the patients and their families who are battling blood related cancers.

Deborah no longer runs marathons but now participates in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge held annually in October. You can join Deborah's Team (The Deboppers) by visiting LightTheNight.org. Funds raised at the concert are added to her total raised for the LTN walk. Deborah started out with a modest goal of $5000 for the concert. In 2007 she doubled that raising over $10,000 in one night. Now she has to aim higher, and invites you to be a part of helping her to reach her new goal of $11K for 2009. Deborah also donates $1 of the sale of each of her CD's to the cause. CD's are available online @ DeborahDavisSings.com. Don't forget Jazz CD?s make GREAT STOCKING STUFFERS for the holidays!

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. For more information visit, LLS.org
