Shogun Warrior to Record Live at the Baked Potato

SOURCE: Published: 2008-11-26
Jeff Babko The jam band Shogun Warrior, celebrating six years of playing the first weekend of every month at L.A.'s famed Baked Potato, will be recording live for two nights at the legendary club on December 6th and 7th.

The band features founder Mike Elizondo on bass, who produced Rilo Kiley and Maroon 5, as well as co-writing 50 Cent's hit, “In Da Club." Keyboardist Jeff Babko and guiarist Toshi Yanagi appear nightly on ABC-TV's “Jimmy Kimmel Live" show, as well as being busy recording session musicians. Trumpeter John Daversa leads his own contemporary big band in Los Angeles. Rounding out Shogun Warrior is drummer Toss Panos, who cut his teeth with Steve Vai and now tours with blues troubadour Robben Ford. This eclectic band of old friends consistently brings a blend of R&B, funk, Bitches Brew inspired fusion, and rock to the Potato, incorporating material from Queen to Miles, from Traffic even to Britney Spears.

Shogun's fans over the past 6 years have come to expect an energetic, creative, ever-evolving and morphing set of genre-bending and even psychedelic music.

Guitarist Yanagi promises “a night of musical paradise."

Sets on Saturday and Sunday, 12/6 & 7, begin at 9:30pm and 11:30pm.

The Baked Potato is located at 3787 Cahuenga Blvd., in Universal City, CA. For reservations or further information, call the Baked Potato at 818-980-1615.
