“Welcome to an incredible album by the extraordinary young jazz violinist and composer Tomoko Omura. “Visions" is a tribute to seven of the finest jazz violinists of all time. And in it, Tomoko does more than just honor these gentlemen... She really gets to the emotional core of what makes each of them tick as players. Her compositions are lovely, well-conceived tunes that are played blazingly by her crackerjack band, and especially by Tomoko herself. Her Playing here is uniformly amazing, with great ideas, great tone, perfect intonation and great feel. It’s a testimony to her maturity as a player that she can pay tribute to these giants without ever losing her own unique identity. I am stunned at how good this CD is. You will be too! Enjoy!” - Matt Glaser (from the liner notes of “Visions” by Tomoko Omura)

On Friday, October, 8th, 2008, an emerging jazz violinist, Tomoko Omura has released her self-produced debut album, Visions. The CD is available on CD Baby and will be available on IndieRhythm.com and Amazon Japan for Japanese fans. The album’s concept is “For My Heroes”. Tomoko Omura picked seven of her most influential jazz violinists and composed seven original songs dedicated to each players. The players include from the iconic jazz violinists such as, Stephane Grappelli and Stuff Smith to the contemporary players like, Jean-Luc Ponty and Mark Feldman. The band members are consisted of the very top musicians from Berklee College of Music. Victor Gould (A touring pianist for acclaimed saxophonist, Donald Harrison) on piano and Rhodes, Dan Carpel (A regular bassist at Boston’s oldest jazz club Wally’s Caf) on bass, Jeffrey Fajardo (Presidencial scholarship receipient of Berklee) on drums.

Tomoko Omura, a native of Japan, moved to the U.S. in 2004 to search her own style on jazz violin. Since studying at Berklee, she has performed with giants such as, Grammy-winning, Joe Lovano, Gloria Estefan and Israel “Cachao” Lopez, to name a few. She is currently the lead violinist for The Guy Mendilow Band and has been touring extensively in the U.S. While Tomoko found herself working alongside such lauded artists, she decided to devote herself to making her own record to express her main love and focus, Jazz.
