Singer. Actor. Arranger. Producer. Manager. Emilie-Claire Barlow's stellar career reflects her mastery of all of these roles.

She returns to Port Hope next week fresh from winning the 2008 Female Vocalist of the Year Award at the National Jazz Awards. Two weeks ago, she was nominated for a Gemini Award for her performance at the 2008 Songwriter's Hall of Fame gala event.

Her packed touring calendar includes dates across the country and at the Ginza International Jazz Festival in Tokyo, all scheduled between gigs in her equally busy career doing voice-overs in TV and film.

For her chart-topping CDs and her crowd-pleasing live shows, she is backed by the country's top session players, who are stars in their own right.

When she takes the stage for the Saturday Night Headline Concert at the All-Canadian Jazz Festival on Sept. 20, she will be joined by guitarist Reg Schwager, bassist Ross MacIntyre, and saxophonist Kelly Jefferson.

Mr. Schwager has appeared on over 80 CDs, and has received the National Jazz Award for Guitarist of the Year for each of the past four years. Mr. MacIntyre has toured or recorded with Matt Dusk, Jesse Cook, the Shuffle Demons, and many others. Mr. Jefferson is a veteran of gigs with Maynard Ferguson, Denzel Sinclair, Renee Rosnes, the Shuffle Demons, and Montreal's Ms. Barlow and her band know they will receive a warm welcome in Port Hope. They were overwhelming crowd favourites last year, when they closed out the Saturday afternoon sets at the Festival, prompting a long lineup of fans purchasing her autographed CDs.
