Three exciting events are on the horizon featuring drummer Brian Jones:

On September 18, Chop Suey Books hosts Musicircus, the perennial celebration of composer John Cage. Organized by Jones, the Musicircus will feature several musicians throughout the store and in the back yard playing music at the same time. From 8 to 9 pm, cacophony will be in the ear of the beholder as different musics will mash together, the predominant sound depending on the listener's location in the room.

Jones' faculty recital at University of Richmond on October 5 will include his duo with saxophonist J.C. Kuhl and the Brian Jones (Guitar) Quartet. The Camp Concert Hall at the Modlin Center will be the venue.

The Mingus Awareness Project, a benefit for ALS, is returning for its second year in Richmond, this time being held at Gallery 5 on October 26 at 4 pm. Last year's event at The Camel was a huge musical success, culminating with the M.A.P. Big Band, conducted by Doug Richards. The same big band--with original arrangements by Richards--is returning this year, along with the M.A.P. Trio (Jones, Cameron Ralston & Kuhl) and Fight the Big Bull.
