  • “A steady current of joy that animates her singing lends the popular standards she chooses with impeccable taste a freshness that feels utterly contemporary...what raises it all to another level is the intensely romantic connection between the singer and her tenor saxophonist husband, Jim Tomlinson" --The New York Times

  • “She has charm to burn, a smile that could give you hope in February and sings like nobody's business." --Wall Street Journal

  • “Here's a great jazz diva for our age." --Kazuo Ishiguro, Liner Notes for In Love Again

Stacey Kent returns to The Algonquin for a winter interlude two nights only-Sunday January 12th at 9:30 (dinner at 8) and Monday January 13th at 8:00 (dinner at 6:30) and 10:00 pm. The early shows are dinner shows, requiring a $50 prix fixe dinner and a $50 music charge per person, while the late show Monday requires a $50 music charge and a $20 minimum. For reservations please call Extension 171 (in the hotel) or (212) 419-9331.

The New York native, an alumna of Sarah Lawrence and London's Guildhall School of Music, Stacey resides in London with her husband, a solo artist of note. She has thrilled Oak Room patrons in two SRO engagements that garnered unanimous praise from critics and public alike. With four best-selling CDs to her credit, Stacey's latest, In Love Again, a Richard Rodgers centennial tribute, has elevated her to the pinnacle of recording artists, gaining two consecutive BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year honors. “Of the thirteen Richard Rodgers songs," writes Kazuo Ishiguro (Booker Prize winning author of Remains of the Day), “she may convey wonderfully the giddy intoxication of love, and yet she does sound vulnerable, like a sophisticate who suddenly left herself open to naivet."
