NYC-based Filipino video artist and VJ Zarah Cabanas (aka Lady Firefly) performs two live audiovisual pieces using original content created with Nam June Paik's analog video synthesizer the Wobulator" at Brooklyn's Issue Project Room on July 31st 2008 at 8pm with ZGT - musical duo of Dok Gregory of Psychic TV, Amoeba Technology and Peter Principle of Tuxedomoon; as well as Hardedge, resident DJ of downtown Manhattan's beloved Nublu, and collaborator of avante-garde coronet player, Graham Haynes.
Part video-art/VJ show, part live audiovisual-jazz" show, the psychedlic evening promises two improvisational compositions of ethereal and mysterious qualities developed by NYC underground VJ/video artist Zarah Cabaas, whose self-dubbed electrorganic" works are a permanent fixture in NYC's underground modern VJ/video art scene.
The premiere of Cosmic Poetry, a new work supported by the Experimental Television Center, is the first in a series of a/v pieces dedicated to the cosmos, utilizing original content created with video-art founding father Nam June Paik's analog synthesizer, the Wobulator, and transforming analog video signals into Lady Firefly's cosmic flowers. Hardedge creates live soundscape. Walking Another Way is a two-channel, surround sound live audiovisual performance transforming the elegant movements of jellyfish into a fantastic floating dream. ZGT utilizes theremin, prepared guitar, and various electronics to create an otherworldly soundscape.
