FRIDAY, JUNE 20

The BandA ecLectics is an 11-piece ensemble consisting of musicians with jazz, world and classical music tendencies and affiliations. These professional musicians will be performing this coming Thursday two 40-minute sets of original compositions with a fresh and unique sound, at the OSArthouse, in New York City. The musical material involves finely composed orchestrations as well as improvisation, arranged organically into a sound that vibrates originality.

The instrumentation is very unique as well, as it employs timbers with a variety of reference, summing up into an eclectic ensemble with an intriguing personality and vibe.

The group, and its leader, pianist and composer, Petros Sakelliou have recently (Oct.2007) received important critical acclaim honored with the 2007 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Composition Competition Prize. The band performed the winning composition in front of 3,600 people at the Kodak Theater in L.A.

Continuing to work hard into 2008 the interest towards the ensemble has been growing rapidly, through concerts and performances in Boston and New York City.
