“a valiant opening salvo for a new musician on the scene whose star should rise quickly." - Michael G. Nastos, All Music Guide “I continue to wait and watch what he will do next [Nick is] a person who will redefine the role of the trombone not only in small ensemble playing, but also in the way we perceive the instrument in the musical community." - Terence Blanchard on Nick Vayenas

Kendrick Scott's World Culture Music is proud to present trombonist/composer Nick Vayenas, applauded by the great trombonist Hal Crook for beginning to reinvent the instrument, in a CD release celebration concert for his debut recording as a leader, Synesthesia, available now. Vayenas is a superlative artist: open-minded, professional, technically facile and magnificently distinct. His music is at once fascinating, exciting, inspiring, emotionally gripping, and most of all, enjoyable. Nowhere is this more apparent than on his brilliant debut CD release, Synesthesia. Vayenas will be joined at the Tribeca PAC by Kendrick Scott (drums), Gerald Clayton (piano), Fabian Almazan (synth), Matt Clohesy (bass), Patrick Cornelius (alto saxophone). Plus, very special guests opening for Vayenas will be fellow World Culture Music Artists Kendrick Scott, Mike Moreno and Julie Hardy!

Throughout Synesthesia, from the haunting melody of “Dissolution," to the futuristic feel of “Circuit Dialog," to the pop/R&B sensibility of “Gone From Me" (featuring vocalist Gretchen Parlato), Nick Vayenas' musical vision radiates in every groove, melody and solo. “I want my album to have an overall cohesiveness and sound that ties it together. All the music on the record is connected in some way." Synesthesia features Nick Vayenas with Kendrick Scott (drums), Aaron Parks (piano), Matt Brewer (acoustic bass), Janek Gwizdala (electric bass), Patrick Cornelius (alto saxophone) and Gretchen Parlato (vocals).

Since 2003, Nick has been touring with the multi-platinum selling Warner Brothers recording artist, vocalist Michael Buble. Buble's band has traveled extensively throughout the world, performing in such venues as the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Town Hall and Radio City in New York, Massey Hall in Toronto, and Royal Albert Hall in London.

Although touring with Michael has kept him busy, Nick continues to pursue and maintain his own musical identity with the release of Synesthesia. World Culture Music is an artist collective record label and multi-faceted music company that was created by Kendrick Scott to form an alliance of like-minded musicians who are making a significant impact on both today's jazz scene and on music in general. WCM's mission is to blur the labels in music, cross the cultural divides, bypass the corporate structure and provide the next generation of talent an outlet to fulfill their creative visions.
