Legends of Jazz Film Festival and Jazz Workshops: The weekend of jazz continues 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 12 with films and excerpts from films of Jazz Legends - Louis Armstrong through Charlie Mingus, Chet Baker and Dave Brubeck. Josh Walker, guitar; Ross LeCompte, trumpet; and Michael Hawkins, bass, will present workshops. There is no cost but reservations are required -- 434-517-7001.

About the musicians:
Josh Walker performs regularly in the Richmond-Charlottesville-Williamsburg area of Virginia. He was featured at the 2006 Montreal Jazz Festival and 2008 IAJE Conference.
Michael Hawkins in 1999 was chosen by the U.S. State Department chose to represent the U.S. in the Kennedy Centers Jazz Ambassador program. He recently has played with Jimmy Heath and Cyrus Chesnut, among many others.
Ross LeCompte worked with ragtime clarinetist Tony Parenti, drummer Cozy Cole, jazz trumpeter, Roy Eldridge, and innovative jazz trumpeter and composer Don Ellis. Ross played mellowphone with guitarist Sal Salvador's big band in, house band for the legendary Birdland. He's producer/director of the Jazz by the Lake Festival, May 17-18 at Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville, Va.
