Pure Bossa Nova | Vinicius de Moraes | Album

SOURCE: Published: 2008-02-28
Pure Bossa Nova

A poet devoted to writing books, Vinicius De Moraes started a partnership with Antonio Carlos Jobim, writing essential pieces for Brazilian music. His lyrics were somewhere between the dark, dramatic, and painful “samba-ballads" and the solar lightness of Bossa Nova, which prevailed from 1958 on, when Joo Gilberto had many hit singles with the duo's songs. After the '60s he kept his high standards, writing with such partners as Carlos Lyra, Baden Powell, Edu Lobo and Toquinho.
