A big welcome to DJ Ajax, who will rejoin the band for these dates. For venues, check the schedule at http://www.liquidsoul.com/tour.html.

LATELY... Liquid Soul has been as busy as ever. In March and April, the “Here's the Deal" kickoff tour took us all over Colorado and to Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Buffalo, Ithaca, Philadelphia (an amazing crowd!), Richmond VA, Cambridge MA, Providence RI, New Haven CT, and New York City. The official CD-release party was held at Metro, and it was great to see the Chicago contingent there in full force. In May, we played the New Orleans Jazz Fest, the Music Midtown Fest in Atlanta, the Riverfront fest in Nashville, and the Cancun Jazz Fest in Mexico. We also had strong showings in Burlington VT and Montreal.

June was a light touring month as Mars spent a few weeks on the road with the avant-garde Peter Brotzman Tentet. It gave the other guys a chance to teach, do session work and gig with other bands. Danny has been playing with Blue Man Group a lot. And the Liquid Soul Horns performed with the Wild Bunch, an all-star rock band including Wayne Kramer of MC5, Clem Burke of Blondie and members of the Smithereens and Guns N' Roses, not to mention a female Elvis impersonator. Our vacation ended when we opened for Isaac Hayes at Ravinia, a swanky outdoor concert arena just north of Chicago.

HERE'S THE DEAL IS “DA BOMB" The Chicago Sun-Times calls it our “best and most invigorating album yet" and Amazon.com describes it as “a reeling, freestyle exercise that cross-pollinates bop, hip-hop, rock and an Asian netherworld before flinging you into a swirl of horn-driven industrial fusion. Definitely worth a listen." If you haven't picked up a copy, you can get it through our website, through Amazon.com or at a store near you!

A NEW WEBSITE SOON -- WE PROMISE! We announced that we'd have an improved website by now, but unfortunately the project hit a snag. Frankly we're embarrassed that the site doesn't even show the new CD yet. But things are back on track now, so brace yourselves for a major overhaul by early August. Among other features, the site will include FAQs, band highlights, and over 100 pictures, including many shots of crowds, dancers and friends we've made on the road. In the “Past Lives of Soul Men" section, view some embarrassing photos of band members as they looked in the '70s, '80s and early '90s.

See you soon...
