David Berger & the Sultans of Swing can be heard on the soundtrack to Denzel Washington's upcoming movie THE GREAT DEBATERS due in theaters nationwide for Christmas. The band was also recently featured on PBS in November playing for the Mark Twain Awards show saluting Billy Crystal. Champian, released this past September, is a recording for everyone who likes songs and singers. Fourteen new arrangements from the Great American Songbook sung by the hottest new singer on the scene today in her debut album accompanied by one of the premiere big bands in jazz. Romance, wit-always hip and swinging. The critics have been unanimous in their praise:

“...the best new singer I've heard this year-make that several years-..." - Francis Davis, The Village Voice

“This may be the most auspicious debut of a female band singer since the 19-year-old Peggy Lee etched a few sides with Benny Goodman in 1941." - Jay Harvey, The Indianapolis Star

“....she's a true showstopper." - K. Leander Williams, Time Out New York

“ . . . now it is possible for those born after the swing era to be in the actual presence of a 15-piece band, the Sultans of Swing, that not only keeps the joy of that heritage alive but has also absorbed much of the spirit and language of the jazz that came after." - Nat Hentoff, The Wall Street Journal

“In her early 20s, vocalist Champian Fulton is full of promise and maturity beyond her years. You can hear it in the charismatic snap of her phrasing and diction, her conversational expression and the suppleness of her swing -- you can't manufacture the relaxed momentum she generates on a jump tune like “They Didn't Believe Me" or the bedroom allure she injects into a ballad like “The Gypsy." - Mark Stryker, The Detroit Free Press

“Berger's beefy ingredients are his new, fresh-tasting charts -lean, fat-free, deliciously alive and nutritiously crisp." - Owen McNally, The Hartford Courant

“Berger draws from his Sultans of Swing immensely accomplished performances on a par with Ellington's orchestral work." - Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune
