Here's a wee press teaser for you. Hope to see you there!

On Thursday, November 15th at 9pm at the Rex Hotel, Richard Underhill releases his much-anticipated new CD Kensington Suite. The 3rd CD from this Juno Award winner and 2-time nominee, Kensington Suite features ten new original jazz instrumentals and exhibits the maturity that comes with years of writing and recording. The arrangements are excellent, the songs are catchy, the band impeccable and the playing passionate. Underhill's songwriting is crisp and poignant. “Bike Lane," “In the Shadows" and “Meet me in the Market" shine. Great tunes played by a killer band.

Featured on the recording are some of Canada's finest jazz musicians. Chris Gale (Colin James, Blue Rodeo, Tyler Yareema) shares the tenor chair with Perry White(Shuffle Demons, Holly Cole, Dave McMurdo). Reg Schwager (who has played with EVERYBODY) shares guitar work with Eric St-Laurent (Shuffle Demons electric band, Carlos del Junco) and the rhythm section is rounded out by Toronto bass stalwart Artie Roth and Vancouver's amazing Joe Poole, who routinely draws comparisons to Brian Blade for his unique combination of power and sensitivity. Guesting on a few tracks are organist David Restivo, percussionist Aline Morales (of Maracatu Nunca Antes), bassist Brandi Disterheft, percussionist Mafata Lemphane and trombonist Scott Good.

Please feel free to contact Richard for interviews regarding the music on this CD and/or his many interests: cycling, bike lanes, sustainable living, solar power, 100 mile diet, organic markets local markets, building code modifications, MMP, politics, myspace, facebook, making Styrofoam history, the Juno Cup hockey game, touring in China and India.
