Chrissie Hynde Added to Performance Lineup for American Music Masters Jerry Lee Lewis Tribute

The Del McCoury Band and Sleepy LaBeef will also join the all-star lineup

Cleveland, OH Tuesday, October 16, 2007- For the first time in its 12-year history, the American Music Masters series, a joint venture of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Case Western Reserve University, will honor a living legend when it pays tribute Jerry Lee Lewis during a weeklong series of events beginning on Monday, November 5, 2007. Lewis will be present to accept this special honor from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The series, presented with the support of Alfred Publishing, will culminate with a tribute concert at the State Theatre in Playhouse Square on Saturday, November 10. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and Ohio native Chrissie Hynde, The Del McCoury Band and Sleepy LaBeef have just been added to the slate of world-class performers who will pay homage to Lewis. George Thorogood, Shelby Lynne, Kris Kristofferson, Terry Adams from NRBQ, Wanda Jackson, Narvel Felts, Billy Lee Riley, Cowboy Jack Clement and Jason D. Williams will round out the lineup. The program will also feature appearances by Jerry Lee Lewis's cousin the Reverend Jimmy Swaggart, who will perform on the piano, and by Lewis' sister Linda Gail Lewis.

Monday, November 5: Some Reflections on Jerry Lee Lewis: An Evening with Hank Davis. Hank Davis is best known today as a music journalist and reissue producer. He has produced, compiled or annotated close to 100 projects for labels including Germany's Bear Family Records, Charly (UK), Rt. 66 (Sweden), and Polygram (US). His boxed set “Memphis Belles: The Women of Sun Records" was nominated by Rolling Stone as Best Reissue of the Year in 2003. Tuesday, November 6: Jerry Lee Lewis from Every Angle: Presentations by Professors Mary Davis and Daniel Goldmark of Case Western Reserve University, Shelby Morrison of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Cleveland-area pianist Mike Petrone, who will present a comparative study of the piano playing of Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Fats Domino. Wednesday, November 7: Jerry Lee Lewis in Film and on TV. The evening will be presented by David C. Barnett, reporter/producer for Ideastream. Barnett has produced three long-form documentaries based on artists from the American Music Masters series. His programs on Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams were syndicated around the country and won a number of national awards. His latest production on Sam Cooke has just gone into national distribution. Thursday, November 8: Alfred Publishing presents the World Premiere of Jerry Lee Lewis: Killer Piano. Alfred Publishing and the Rock Hall present a remarkable new documentary featuring Jerry Lee Lewis, Linda Gail Lewis, and others. On the heels of his landmark recording Last Man Standing, Jerry Lee Lewis speaks candidly about his 50-year career, and, for the first time, demonstrates the piano style that defined rock and roll. Combining interview and performance footage, this remarkable film demonstrates Jerry Lee's signature style on the piano. The film also features conversations with Lewis's sister, daughter and other close associates, rare family photos, and Lewis on camera, demonstrating many of his favorite rock and roll and country songs. This event will conclude with a discussion with the film's producer Aaron Stang and Warren Zanes, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's Public Programs Producer and Education Adviser. Friday, November 9: At Wilbert's in Cleveland! Music will be provided by the Terry Adams Rock and Roll Quartet. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door or in advance at Wilbert's. Rock Hall members can purchase two-for-one tickets by showing member ID at time of purchase.

Saturday, November 10: Daylong Conference at Case Western Reserve University's Wolstein Auditorium, 2103 Cornell Road, in the Wolstein Research Building, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Participants will include Jerry Lee Lewis' longtime musical associate Kenny Lovelace, first generation Sun Records musicians Billy Lee Riley and James Van Eaton, legendary artists Sleepy LaBeef and Narvel Felts, former Sun Records engineer Cowboy Jack Clement, longtime Jerry Lee Lewis friends and associates JW Whitten and Cecil Harrelson, Knox Phillips (son of Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records), Jerry Lee Lewis' sister Linda Gail Lewis, and, as keynote presenter, celebrated author Peter Guralnick. Tickets are $30 and are available through Ticketmaster and the Museum box office.

Saturday, November 10: Tribute concert at Playhouse Square's State Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets to the concert, which are $30, $40 and $50, may be purchased through tickets.com and at the Playhouse Square box office or by calling (216) 241-6000.
