Drummer Pete Zimmer, whose fine New York based quintet is currently touring the US will take a detour this weekend. Guitarist Avi Rothbard and Zimmer will have their turn at hosting the spirited jazz jam sessions at this National Historic Landmark - known by some as the birthplace of Modern Jazz. The sessions will take place Friday September 14th 4:30pm - 8:30pm and Sunday September 16th 1am -5am. These session, known the world over, have been going on since the 1930s, when the building was the Musicians local 627. Little has changed in the building over the years and it is also the place where “The Last of the Blue Devils" was filmed in 1974. Historian Chuck Haddix has created an extensive website about the landmark.
