Legendary platinum-selling contemporary jazz pianist/songwriter JIM BRICKMAN and long-time friend and rapidly-rising star saxophonist MICHAEL LINGTON join up for their SUMMER ROMANCE TOUR, making a stop at Glenside's KESWICK THEATRE on Thurs., July 26 @ 8 PM.
BRICKMAN's 2006 release, “Escape," offers a vivid tapestry of romantic piano solos, inspiring vocals and an exciting collection of original songs plus collaborations with some of the top composers in the country. The album adds new classics to Brickman's impressive repertoire, including exquisite piano pieces like “Waterfall," the poignant “First Light" and the vibrant “Barcelona." Designed to use the power of music as a force for relaxing, re-charging and revitalizing, Escape provides listeners with a way of putting the stress and anxiety of an often-chaotic world behind them.

LINGTON's latest album, the 2006 release “A Song for You," is defined by unexpected shifts in mood and instrumentation that flow organically in and out of each other. Leaning strongly toward the pop side of jazz, with classical, Brazilian, Latin, and gospel shadings, LINGTON plays a distinctive contemporary saxophone. “It's the kind of record that inspired me from the very beginning. The songs on this CD are the core of what has driven me to become a musician," says Michael. “With this album, I really wanted to focus on the under-appreciated, or underexposed standards of tomorrow - mainly songs from the '70s that have been rarely covered in a jazz instrumental format."
Danish-born LINGTON has demonstrated his contemporary saxophone chops with a steady stream of chart-toppers since his self-titled debut album in 1997. His 2004 release, Stay with Me, yielded three Radio & Records national jazz hits with “Show Me" and “Two of a Kind" at No. 2, and “Pacifica" at No. 6. Stay With Me also remained on the Billboard contemporary jazz chart for a total of 24 weeks. “Twice In a Lifetime" and “Sunset" from Vivid, and “Still Thinking of You" from Lington's Everything Must Change all went Top 5 as well. His duet with Bobby Caldwell on “Tell It Like It Is" from his self-titled debut, ascended both the jazz and adult contemporary charts.
