An Evening of Jazz Featuring the Dave Brubeck Quartet, Randy Crawford and Joe Sample and Earl Klugh

Dave Brubeck, often regarded as a genius in his field, is one of the most well known jazz pianists of all time. Brubeck's style ranges from refined to bombastic, from classical to improvisational. Much of his music is known for employing unusual time signatures. He continues to write new works, to develop as a musician, exploring new avenues in composition and performance. Well into his 80's, Brubeck is still doing what he loves most: creating, touring and recording.

For three decades, Randy Crawford has traversed a musical spectrum that ranges from jazz and soul, to R&B and pop. Her warm timbre and inventive, emotional phrasing has won Crawford countless fans around the globe. “I always want to associate myself with any piece of music that feels good and sounds good," says the singer. “And a good song can come from anywhere. I hope I will always sing, I don't want to do anything else."

For more than four decades, pianist and composer Joe Sample has been an integral, innovative and bestselling part of jazz history. He is one of the most diverse and popular jazz performers of the last half century. Sample tours with musical greats in all genres and his recorded works give us a unique reflection and chronicle of traditional American music at its best.

With Earl Klugh, a Detroit born jazz fusion guitarist, listeners are treated to a rare form of guitar music that draws its power not from AC, but from bare fingers on strings. Klugh's music breaches the boundaries of what even seems possible to do on the instrument. Indeed, no single approach to playing the guitar pushes its limits more than finger style, where the greatest potential of the instrument is realized.
