This sparkling and passionate vocalist has revitalized such jazz standards as Devil May Care and What's Your Story, Morning Glory on her latest CD release entitled, What's Your Story, produced by the legendary Orrin Keepnews (Theolonius Monk, etc.).
Donnay's vibrant stage presence quickly suspends her audience in a timeless era with a vocal style that is reminiscent of Blossom Dearie, Billie Holiday and Julie London reflecting their powerful yet delicate deliveries.
In addition, Donnay's talent for attracting extraordinary musicians to perform and record with makes for an evening of both lively and reflective contemporary jazz music. Keepnews and Donnay handpicked the players for her CD, Whats Your Story, including saxophone phenomenon, Dave Ellis and the jazz piano virtuoso, Eric Reed. Recent San Francisco Bay Area performances have featured The Roberta Donnay Quartet with Jonathan Alford/piano, Dezson Claiborne/drums and Jeff Chambers/bass.
