In the 60's Mr. Cosey was staff guitarist at Chess Records, recording with such greats as Etta James, Chuck Berry, Little Milton, Fontella Bass, Billie Stewart, Minnie Ripperton, Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf. During that time he also formed Al Green's first band and recorded Al Green's first records. He is heard on such hits as Rescue Me, Soulful Strut, Summertime, Get On Up, and Working on a Groovey Thing. He was also an early member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and a founding member of The Pharoahs. Along with Maurice White and Louis Satterfield, Mr. Cosey co-founded Earth Wind and Fire. In the 70's Pete Cosey toured with the Gene Ammons quartet and played with Sonny Stitt. In 1973, Mr. Cosey joined the Miles Davis Group and stayed with him through 1979. During that time he recorded the albums Hollywood, Get Up With It, Agharta, Pangaea, Dark Magus, and volumes of unreleased material. Said Robert Christgau, “Pete Cosey is simply astonishing - the noises he produces for the second half of Side 1 [of “Agharta" with Miles Davis] comprise some of the greatest free improvisations ever heard in a “jazz" “rock" context." In more recent years Mr. Cosey participated in concerts with his own group at the Joseph Papp Shakespeare Festival, New Music America and Wall To Wall Miles in New York City. He also found time to record with Herbie Hancock on his Gold and Platinum selling record Future Shock. Children of Agharta is his brainchild and is especially close to his heart. Miles called that particular band his best band. Jimi Hendrix used to psyche himself up before gigs by listening to Pete's playing on Muddy's “Herbert Harper's Free Press News".

Melvin Gibbs has been called “the best bassist in the world" by Time Out New York magazine. A well-respected veteran of the New York music scene, he has contributed his singular talents to major artists in many diverse genres of music, appearing on close to 200 albums. Lewis, playing at major European jazz festivals and recording two albums ). In addition he worked with DJ Logic as an original Project Logic member and as arranger/co-producer (with Scotty Hard) of Logic's first two records.

DJ SAKEDELIC -

CAVE CANEM, located in the basement lounge of the former Cave Canem restaurant of the late 80's, is “East Village neoclassical", and “going back to the roots of the space," says owner HAYNE SUTHON. “The only difference is there's a stage instead of the bath." JOSEPH COVINO, CLETE DE BEAT, and CHARLES BLASS - aka The Cavemen - are creating a haven for music in an embattled post-CB's/Continental/Tonic zone. Enjoy dinner at the raw bar, WALLY'S PACIFIC CATCH, or the sister Tiki style restaurant WAIKIKI WALLY'S (http://waikikiwallys.com/), and partake of delicious, freshly concocted musical desserts nearly nightly at Cave Canem.

DJ CLETE DE BEAT is a provider of underground community services such as the creation and organization of events, with residencies including Sapphire Lounge, Flamingo East, Webster Hall, and currently Visions 11. De Beat organized House Without A Home, Tribeca Loft, Organism, and afterhours at South 6th in Williamsburg. JOSEPH COVINO is the founder of East Village Studio, a multimedia service organization, and an actor, writer, director, and producer of independent artists in film, theater and music. CHARLES BLASS is a music advocate, writer, archivist, engineer, producer and longtime programmer on WKCR-FM NY ('Audio Gumbo'). For about a decade Charles managed recording studio KMA Music in Times Square, founding the Monday Night Jams & KMA AllStars.
