The Lucky 7s will be performing 4 shows in Chicago in July. On Wednesday, July 18 at The Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia , http://www.hideoutchicago.com) the Lucky 7s will be part of the Immediate Sound Series. The band will play weekend shows at The Velvet Lounge (67 E. Cermack Rd.) on Friday and Saturday, July 20 & 21. On Sunday, July 22, at The Hungry Brain (2319 W. Belmont, http://www.emergingimprovisers.org), the Lucky 7s will perform with special invited guests. These will be the band's first Chicago performances since September 2006. The performances will include brand new material, as well as selections from their critically acclaimed CD “Farragut."
The Lucky 7s are: Jeb Bishop (trombone), Jeff Albert (trombone and tuba), Josh Berman (cornet), Keefe Jackson (tenor sax and bass clarinet), Jason Adasievicz (vibes), Matthew Golombisky (bass), and Quin Kirchner (drums). The group was conceived, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, as a meeting of some of New Orleans' and Chicago's finest young improvising musicians. Jeff Albert is the only member of the band that still resides in the New Orleans area.
