Marcia Miget Jazz to Perform at San Rafael Street Painting Festival

MARCIA MIGET JAZZ TO PERFORM AT SAN RAFAEL STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL

On Sunday June 10, 2007, North Bay musician Marcia Migt will be performing 1 pm on the Main Stage, Court and 'C' Streets, at San Rafael's Italian Street Painting Festival. This will be her twelfth appearance at the festival.

A “maestra" of many elements, her most recent public performance was with Voices of Latin Rock legends Abel Sanchez, Jorge Santana and Malo at the Cesar Chavez Arizona Celebration. A saxophonist, pianist, flutist, educator and Director of Miraflores Academie, Marcia Miget's performance pedigree includes multiple appearances with Carlos Santana, Anthony Brown and the Asian American Orchestra, the James Cleveland Choir, Montclair Women's Big Band and Wayne Wallace's Rhythm and Rhyme. Ms. Miget has performed with legends such as Freddy Redd, Buddy Baker, Kenny Barron, Frank Foster, Pete Escovedo, Donald Byrd, Tyrone Hill of Sun Ra's Arkestra, Freddy Redd, Larry Ridley, Gath Weber, Dartanyan Brown and the Iowa Hall of Fame All-Stars. 2006 saw her at the Fillmore Jazz Festival with David Hardiman's San Francisco Big Band Allstars; 2003 through 2005 with the AAJC (African American Jazz Caucus) Dance Band at the International Association of Jazz Educators' Convention; in 2004 as Featured Artist with the AAJC/HBCU (Historically Black Colleges' and Universities) Allstar Big Band; with Dr. Anthony Brown and the Asian American Orchestra playing the Monterey, Stern Grove and Fillmore Jazz Festivals. She has been featured with the 2004 Historically Black College All-Star Band, African American Jazz Caucus Big Band, Montclair Woman's Jazz Orchestra, the featured performer James Cleveland Choir, Lighthouse Singers, and performed on MTV with Ricki Lee Smith.

Incorporating a variety of styles including Latin, Gospel, Folk as well as Jazz, Marcia Miget will have as this year's special guest performer Jaimeo Brown. One of the hottest drummers on the East Coast and current Ralph Bunche Fellow, Jaimeo has performed nationally and internationally with a host of musicians that includes Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Wynton Marsalis, Steve Turre. Kaamal (aka Q-Tip), Carl Craig, Pharoah Sanders, Bobby Hutcherson and more.
