Jazz Star Kevin Bales to Perform in Daytona Beach

JAZZ STAR KEVIN BALES TO PERFORM IN DAYTONA BEACH

PALM COAST, FL (February 12, 2007)--The North East Florida Jazz Association (NEFJA) is pleased to announce that the Kevin Bales Quartet will perform at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach on Sunday, March 18 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. as part of the Northeast Florida Jazz Association's (NEFJA) 2006 - 2007 concert series. The public is invited to hear some great jazz in an intimate setting.

Bales, a noted jazz pianist and recording artist, is a previous winner of the American Pianist Association's Jazz Piano Competition and has performed at prominent jazz clubs and festivals across the United States and around the world, including the JVC Jazz Festival in New York, the Toronto Jazz Festival and the Hampton Jazz Festival in England as well as at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles and Yoshi's in San Francisco. In addition to leading his own groups, Bales has also toured and performed with jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Louie Bellson, Blue Note recording artist Marcus Printup, Grammy winner Eddie Daniels, sax legends Bunky Green and James Moody, Ben Tucker, Nathan Page, Ira Sullivan, The Lincoln Center All-Stars and many others.

Appearing with Bales at the NEFJA concert in March will be Leon Anderson on drums, Rodney Jordan on bass and Barry Green on guitar. Each of these talented musicians possesses a long list of accomplishments as performers and as jazz educators.

Tickets are $15 for NEFJA members and $17 for non-members and can purchased in advance by mail (P.O. Box 352552, Palm Coast, FL 32135) or at Aimee's Hallmark in Palm Coast. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door.

The Northeast Florida Jazz Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the perpetuation, performance, preservation, and promotion of jazz. In addition to bringing nationally and internationally known jazz performers to the local area as part of their annual concert series, the NEFJA awards scholarships to talented young students enrolled in a Jazz studies program at a Florida College or University The NEFJA is proud to announce that 2nd Annual Jazz Festival will be held March 23-25 at Mantanzas High School in Palm Coast, Florida.
