JOHN FEDCHOCK NEW YORK BIG BAND AT THE JAZZ STANDARD, ONE NIGHT ONLY - FEBRUARY 6, IN CELEBRATION of UP & RUNNING
(New Recording Available March 20 on Reservoir Music)

“... dazzling trombone virtuosity"-THE NEW YORK TIMES

“Fedchock plays with a dark, virile, sharply etched tone, and he's as well organized and aware of texture in his articulate solos as he is in his terrific arrangements"
Neil Tesser, CHICAGO READER

The John Fedchock New York Big Band appears for a one-night-only, CD release celebration and performance at The Jazz Standard, one of NYC's premier jazz venues, on February 6. Fedchock's all-star group will be performing music from their upcoming Reservoir CD release, Up & Running, showcasing hot-off-the-presses Fedchock compositions along with arrangements of jazz classics and American standards. This is an opportunity to hear one of the best big bands in the business - an event not to be missed!

The John Fedchock New York Big Band has become an institution that has been thriving for almost two decades and proudly features many of the same players that started with the band in 1989. Once talented unknowns in the jazz world, the players that comprise Fedchock's ensemble have all become top-rate, first-call players on the New York and international jazz scenes. DownBeat Magazine stated, “John Fedchock's New York Big Band commands your attention and holds it. This band of peerless pros takes advantage of Fedchock's exciting arrangements."

Indeed, few big bands can boast the kind of sound that Fedchock's group produces. The John Fedchock New York Big Band has toured and performed around the globe, including shows at the Jazz & Blues Festival in Stockholm, Sweden, the Imatra Jazz Festival in Imatra, Finland, and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. Regarded as one of the most perceptive and versatile trombonists on the scene today, Fedchock's reputation as an accomplished and resourceful composer/arranger is also widely acknowledged. His dense voicings, thick ensemble writing and unique, swinging lines have become his characteristic trademarks. “I'm a player who also writes," offers Fedchock modestly. But in truth, John Fedchock is a supremely gifted musician whose artistry will unquestionably have a hand in guiding and shaping the direction of big band music for the new millennium.

On March 20, 2007 Reservoir Music will release Up & Running, the newest recording from the John Fedchock New York Big Band. On Up & Running, Fedchock and his formidable ensemble once again fully embrace and honor the jazz tradition while striking out on adventurous musical sojourns fueled by Fedchock's impeccable, imaginative playing, writing, arranging and leadership.
