To celebrate the release of her CD Haunted Heart, Sarah Lynch and her band will play two sets at Sweet Rhythm in Greenwich Village, on January 16, 2007.

Band personnel consists of Pete McCann (g), Phil Palombi (b), Bryson Kern (d), Dave Smith (tpt) and Tim Albright (tbn).

New York City-based vocalist Sarah Lynch brings much more to the microphone than just a great set of pipes (and composer Phil Springer likens her to “a young Peggy Lee.") She and music have been friends since she started studying piano at age five. Her playing led to singing, which led to composing, so with a masters degree in piano performance from UCLA, you might say that this upcoming singer- songwriter definitely knows her way around a piece of music. Haunted Heart her first CD, has just been released, and has already had airplay on KKJZ in Los Angeles.

Todd Jenkins calls guitarist Pete McCann “an exceedingly perceptive player with the good sense to approach songs in a way that befits their basic character, and the creativity to make something fresh out of those songs at the same time" (and if you've heard McCann play with Lynch before, you know exactly what Jenkins means).

Bassist Phil Palombi, who plays both internationally and in New York, performs and records with such players as Toshiko Akiyoshi, Michael Brecker, Maynard Ferguson, Billy Hart, Dave Liebman, Chris Potter, Claudio Roditi, Lew Tabackin, Mark Turner, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, Chucho Valdes, Walt Weiskopf - and, of course, Curtis Stigers.

Bryson Kern is emerging as a unique voice on the drum set, gaining prominence and notoriety for his sensitive, yet creative approach to the instrument. In his short career, Bryson has performed with such jazz notables as Fred Hersch, Benny Golson, Terell Stafford, Joel Frahm, Ingrid Jensen, Michael Weiss, Melvin Rhyne, and Nneenna Freelon.

Dave Smith's trumpet evokes the following from Michael Philip Mossman, one of the world's foremost composers and arrangers: “David Smith's lyricism and sincerity of line and inflection combines well with his expanded sense of intervallic melodic construction. The result is a style rich in content, engaging emotionally and rich in character."

Tim Albright has been active in New York and on the international jazz scene since 1999, performing with Argento and touring regularly with alto saxophonist Steve Coleman. J. D. Considine in Toronto calls Albright “a revelation, delivering slyly virtuosic lines while maintaining gutbucket immediacy."
