GRAMMY U Students From Mancini Institute To Perform With The Legendary Jazz Musician
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — GRAMMY U— a Recording Academy program created to prepare college students interested in pursuing a career in the music industry — announced today their partnership with GRAMMY-winning jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard during the famed New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest on May 3–4. GRAMMY U students chosen from the Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami will have the opportunity to perform at Blanchard's private residence for his exclusive annual Jazz Fest event on May 4, as well as onstage with Blanchard and his band during their official Jazz Fest set the same day.

A four-time GRAMMY Award winner, the critically-acclaimed jazz musician is currently the Artistic Director at Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Blanchard also sits on the Advisory Council for GRAMMY U, helping plan and organize educational initiatives throughout the year for The Recording Academy. Throughout Blanchard's illustrious career, he has worked with artists such as Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock, Donald Harrison, and Wayne Shorter and recorded on acclaimed jazz record labels Blue Note, Concord and Sony Classical. Additionally, Blanchard has an extensive filmography, having scored more than 50 films such as Cadillac Records, Inside Man, Jungle Fever, Trial By Jury, and, most recently, Red Tails.
