Few artists have shaped the landscape of popular music as much as Joni Mitchell. Her poetry, insight and originality have influenced so many that contemporary songwriting without her is unimaginable.

Forty-three years after the release of Mitchell's landmark album, Blue (Reprise, 1971), award-winning singer and composer Edel Meade pays tribute to the legendary singer/songwriter with an exclusive headline performance at the Odessa Club Dame Court, Dublin 2.

The talented young vocalist will be performing some of Mitchell's most treasured songs, “All I Want”, “A Case Of You” and “Big Yellow Taxi” with guitarist Dick Farrelly, bassist Gerry Kavanagh and percussionist Rod Quinn.

“For me, her music is feelings and emotions and soul and heart and pain set to pitches and tones. It’s honest and it’s raw. It’s what real music is all about,” admits Edel.

“Joni’s style of songwriting is completely different to any other artist around. She’s completely original in her approach to writing melodies, chord structures, lyrics and phrasing melody lines. She’s a free thinker and she’s always honest. She’s someone I really admire.”

Multi-instrumentalist Dick Farrelly has performed, recorded and toured worldwide with some of the biggest names in the business such as Van Morrison, Sinéad O’Connor, legendary Jimi Hendrix sideman drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding as well as singer Honor Heffernan.

Bassist Gerry Kavanagh has performed with The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Stockton’s Wing, Freddie White, Mary Coughlan and Ronan Keating.

Percussionist Rod Quinn has toured and recorded with Van Morrison, Mary Black, Brian Kennedy andGilbert O’Sullivan.
