"UNDERGROUND" THE NEW CD FROM TRUMPETER GILBERT CASTELLANOS TO BE RELEASED ON SEEDLING RECORDS ON JUNE 27, 2006

Tour dates set for June, July and August

Los Angeles, CA: Seedling Records today announced the release of Underground, the new CD from trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos. As a bandleader and as a member of three top jazz ensembles (The Diana Krall Big Band, The Los Angeles based Anthony Wilson None and Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra,) Castellanos has become a major force on the West Coast jazz scene and is considered by many to be one of the nation's leading jazz trumpeters. His ability to play both emotional ballads and up-tempo hard-bop standards have gained him comparisons to both Lee Morgan and Clifford Brown, two of his earliest influences.

Born in Guadalajara in 1972, Gilbert Castellanos has been playing jazz since he was twelve years of age and follows in the footsteps of his father, Gilbert B. Castellanos, who had his own group Gil Castellanos y Su Copacabana. Gilbert Sr. recorded a number of popular albums in Mexico during the late 1960's and it was he who gave his son his first trumpet at a very young age. Gilbert Jr. pursued his love of the trumpet and went on to attend both the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston and the California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) in Los Angeles where he joined four fellow students and formed the critically acclaimed group Black/Note.

Gilbert Castellanos has performed on stage and or recorded with some of the most important jazz musicians of our time including: Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Gerald Wilson, Ernie Andrews, Poncho Sanchez, Jimmy Smith, Diana Krall, Al Jarreau, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Dr. John, Charlie Hayden, Tootie Heath, Joe Lovano, Eric Reed, Lewis Nash, Donald Brown, Billy Higgins, Charles Mcpherson, Luis Gasca, Steve tyrell, Les Mccann, Mulgrew Miller, Russel Malone, Plas Johnson, Gladys Night, Nnenna Freelon, Daniel Jackson, Marshall Hawkins, Huston Person, John Santos, John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Willie Jones III, Michael Buble, Anthony Wilson, Benny Maupin, Greg Hutchinson, Henry Franklin, Brian Blade, Lou Rawls, Oscar Brashear, Snooky Young, Benny Wallace, Herlin Riely, John Pattatuchi, Bobby Shew, Johnny Mandel, Jack Costanzo, Brian Lynch, Robert Hurst, Christian Mcbride, Dee Dee Bridgewater, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli, Renee Olstead, Ndugu Chancler, Francisco Aguabella, James Moody, Gary Lefebvre, James Newton, Pete
