The week of December 9, the twitter account of the world fusion music band Ancient Future is hosting a twitter torrent from Ancient Future leader Matthew Montfort's spooky little spoof, “Dickens of an Ancient Future Present."

Based on Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carole," the spoof follows Etherseizer Scrooogle as he is haunted by four phantoms: his deceased search partner Torrent Pirate, the Ghost of the Ancient Future Past, the Ghost of the Ancient Future Present, and the Ghost of the Ancient Future Yet to Come.

In the spoof, Etherseizer Scrooogle and Torrent Pirate are what the politically astute would call persons of corporate heritage. The court has granted them bodies and souls. The story follows the Spirits of the band Ancient Future as they make their way through a world where tech titans profit off of cultural content, but do nothing to support the creation of that content. Scrooogle runs a miserly search concern profiting handsomely from the free content it catalogs. The Spirits haunt him, attempting to engage his conscience. In an alternate future, he meets his nemesis, Gates Guarder, who heads the search concern Sing, which dedicates all of its profits to supporting content creation. This could lead to the demise of Scrooogle.

The story outline will unfold in a series of tweets. The complete text of Matthew Montfort's full length spoof is available at their website.
