Introducing A Unique Take On Jazz, Pop and Rock At The 12th Edition of the Critically Acclaimed Music Event

Dubai, November 13 2013: Chillout Productions has finally announced the headliner for the closing night of the much awaited *Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2014. The multi-awarded global music icon, Santana, and the band will bring their highly original popular music of rock, jazz, blues and Afro-Cuban rhythms with a Latin sound on the last night of the festival February 21st 2014 at Festival Park, Dubai Festival City.

The hit makers of Number 1 Billboard Singles - ‘Into The Night’, ‘Why Don’t You & I’, ‘The Game of Love’, ‘Maria Maria’ and ‘Smooth’ - gained an immediate following which resulted in their early success and international fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Led by Carlos Santana, their ever-evolving sound was always ahead of its time in its universal appeal. Today, it registers as ideally in sync with the modern pan-cultural landscape. For more than four decades, Carlos has been the visionary force behind artistry that transcends musical genres and generational, cultural and geographical boundaries.

About Carlos Santana

The Mexican-born American musician Carlos Santana, together with his band, emerged onto the global stage in 1969. On the same year, their self-titled debut LP came out which introduced the band’s first Top 10 hit ‘Evil Ways’. The disc stayed on Billboard’s album chart for two years. It was soon followed by two more classics and Billboard #1 albums, “Abraxas” (featuring the Top 5 hit ‘Black Magic Woman’ and Top 10 hit ‘Oye Como Va’) and “Santana III” (with Top 10 hit ‘Everybody’s Everything’). Santana has sold more than 100 million records to date. The band’s best-selling album is “Supernatural”, which sold over 27 million copies worldwide. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is the best-selling album of all time by a Latin artist.

Santana has won numerous awards, including ten Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards. In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With the 2010 release of “Guitar Heaven” (includes some of the most popular guitar-based rock tracks of all time like ‘Whole Lotta Love’, ‘Sunshine of Your Love’ and ‘Photograph’), Santana joined the Rolling Stones as one of only two music acts in Billboard history to score at least one Top Ten album in each decade from the 1960s onwards. Additionally, Carlos Santana was inducted into the NAACP Image Hall of Fame, and was dedicated a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Among many other honors, Carlos received Billboard Latin Music Awards’ 2009 Lifetime Achievement honor, has been cited by Rolling Stone as #15 on the magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
