Tom Lawton Joins Keyboard Mania at the Colonial Theatre on November 14th

On Thursday November 14, Tom Lawton will appear in a benefit concert at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville for Keyboard Mania. All proceeds benefit the Kimberton Waldorf School Steinway Restoration Fund.

Tom Lawton is a highly respected and gifted jazz pianist based in the Philadelphia area. His playing is “superbly performed, full of complex textures, exciting solos and imminent discoveries.” See Tom's All About Jazz interview for more.

The concert features a range of exciting and diverse artists, covering classical, jazz and beyond. The performances will feature both solo pieces and keyboard collaborations, including 4-hand piano. In addition, there will also be insightful onstage conversations to learn more about the artists and their music.

Other featured artists include:

Tania Stavreva – Performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall. Her classical performances are infused with jazz sensibilities that are “exceptional, entrancing, fun”

Paul Fejko - Provocative, challenging and iconoclastic, Paul Fejko has always been quite fond of extremes. He can often be found treading on the boundaries of accepted limits and traditions.

Ching-Yun Hu – winner of the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition. “profound depth of emotion in a beautifully-shaped, expansive performance."

Other performers on the roster include: John Conahan, Mike Ruhl, Dylan Babitch, Martin Weinberg and Wayne Zimmerman.

“Music is an integral part of the curriculum at Kimberton Waldorf School, and the pianos are used quite often. Restoring our Steinway pianos will have a lasting impact on the quality of the music program for KWS students for years to come,” said Esther Walsh, music teacher at the Kimberton Waldorf School.

Ticket Information

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. There are also $40 “Gold Circle” tickets available which include seating in the front rows plus a reception with light refreshments after the concert to mingle and meet with the artists. All proceeds benefit the Kimberton Waldorf School Steinway Restoration Fund.
