Following a successful season of First Sunday Jazz Salon at the RIVAA Gallery, the Roosevelt Island Visual Art's Association is pleased to announce NEW VOICES, NEW SOUNDS @ RIVAA
NEW VOICES, NEW SOUNDS is an innovative and artistically curated music series that showcases fresh talent that is destined to make their mark on the New York jazz scene. With progressive and contemporary sounds that are rooted in the jazz tradition, these new voices bring fresh perspective and an innovative interpretation of the jazz canon to Roosevelt Islands RIVAA Gallery.
NEW VOICES, NEW SOUNDS launches it fall series on October 18th, 7.00pm, and continues on two more Friday evenings at 7 pm: November 15 and December 13th
Suggested donation of $5.00 at the door
The opening event , Friday October 18th at 7pm, features two marvelous trios, led by vocalists Katie Seiler (with Evan Allen on piano, and Michael Sachs on Saxophone), and Roosevelt Island resident Allegra Levy (with RI resident Andrew Baird on guitar, and Frank Ojeda on bass) and promise to be a wonderful evening that is rooted in the jazz tradition with a progressive flavor.
On November 15, New Voices New Sounds will feature the outstanding JOHN MCNEIL's HUSH POINT quarter, led by and featuring trumpeter John McNeil. John McNeil is regarded as one of the most original and creative jazz artists in the world today.
The series is hosted and sponsored by Gallery Rivaa, and is conceived, produced and curated by Roosevelt Island residents Susheel Kurien and Allegra Levy.
