About Roy Hargrove

Roy Hargrove at 43 has already been in the business for more over twenty years. His career has spanned the diverse spheres of music, playing with Jazz legends such as Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis and Shirley Horn as well as Hip Hop/Neo Soul icons like Erykah Badu, Common and D’Angelo. He is equally comfortable with the swinging fire of hard bop trumpet and the nuanced serenity of the flugelhorn. This unique ability to approach the music from various perspectives makes his art more accessible. Jazz, after all, is folk music and Roy Hargrove plays for all the folks.
