Since 2002, Slought Foundation has presented a series of time-based performance practices featuring artists at the forefront of new music, language arts, film, and new media.

According to pianist Jeff Baumeister, “First on the agenda is to highlight the rich diversity of improvised music and jazz found right here in our own backyard. With the goal of creating a performance space where musicians can regularly present new works in a wide variety of styles and practices."

The 2006-07 season titled The Philadelphia Series will be devoted completely to new music coming out of Philadelphia today. An early roster of artists so far includes; Baumeister, Uri Caine, Ben Schachter, Bobby Zankle, Tom Lawton, John Swana, Shot x Shot, The Philly 5, and The Chance Trio ... with more to be named shortly.

Opening the season on October 12th will be a solo Fender Rhodes concert by Uri Caine. Followed by a four-day festival from Thursday October 26th through Sunday October 29th featuring two performances each night. Regular performance there after will be twice a month through June 2007.

More details will be posted at Slought.org, usefulmusic.net and here at All About Jazz in the upcoming weeks.
