Though this may be a new group, it has deep roots. Co-leaders Amanda Monaco and Noah Baerman studied music together at the Educational Center for the Arts and Rutgers University. Since then, each has released albums to critical acclaim and led groups throughout the Northeast. Added to the group is another one of their high school chums, the accomplished and inimitable saxophonist Wayne Escoffery. Given Monaco's quirky mix of the guitar tradition and the avant-garde and Baerman's soulful melodic sense, this group should have a sound that any eclectic jazz listener can dig. Monaco and Baerman are both active educators and will no doubt teach the audience at Cornelia Street a thing or two.
