Jazz Bridge in Cheltenham! presents singer Jill Salkin, appearing at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts—439 Ashbourne Road in Cheltenham—on December 5th. Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and are available only at the door. Show time is 7:30.
WRTI Radio’s Bob Perkins described Jill Salkin as a genuinely fine jazz voice. Critic and author Scott Yanow wrote that she is an excellent singer/songwriter with a clear and appealing voice. Jill Salkin’s versatility is noteworthy as well, as she’s been a pop-oriented back-up singer on stage and in recording studios, has been writing songs (very good ones) since the age of 16, and her interpretations of American popular song featured on her The Very Thought of You CD stand as sincere, heartfelt and individual. Her eagerly-anticipated new CD, soon to be released, promises to be another impressive addition to her body of work.
Jazz Bridge is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization dedicated to assisting area jazz and blues musicians in need. Their Jazz Bridge in Cheltenham program is one in a series at this venue, along with four other area locales.
