Gahnt is a studied, experienced, versatile and entertaining singer and arranger who has performed with dozens of national names, including Grover Washington, Jr., The Sylistics, Pieces of a Dream, alto saxophonist Tony Williams and legendary drummer Butch Ballard. She is currently the vocalist with the Legends of Jazz Orchestra. The names of the venues in which she’s appeared could fill volumes.
Gahnt, accompanied on this engagement by pianist Aaron Graves, drummer Harry “Butch” Reed, and bassist Lee Smith, makes no secret of her admiration for pioneers like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Carmen McRae, but she is her own person, as she says, traveling at the speed of swing!
