Chihiro's music pivots between her strikingly original compositions and her unique arrangements of standards, in which she accomplishes the impressive feat of introducing the element of surprise into some of the most famous songs in the jazz repertoire.

Chihiro's current U.S. CD, Reminiscence (Universal/EmArcy/Decca) is her 2nd U.S. release and 11th CD overall. Her CDs are released in Japan on the Universal/Verve label, and each one has reached the top of the Japanese jazz charts. Next on the horizon for Chihiro is the new CD Because (Universal/Verve), featuring her inventive jazz arrangements of classic Beatles songs. Because has already been released in Japan to great acclaim.

2012 has been a milestone year for Chihiro, with important debut performances at the Mary Lou Williams Women In Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and at Yoshi's Jazz Club in San Francisco, CA, as well as concerts at Iridium Jazz Club in New York, NY and many other venues in the U.S., Italy, France and Japan. Her Kennedy Center concert was broadcast on National Public Radio's “JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater."

The webcast of Chihiro's Berklee concert will be archived for future viewing on the National Public Radio and WBGO/The Checkout websites.
