Photographer Lena Adasheva is a Russian born photographer, based in New York City. She is a recipient of the Jazz Journalists Association Award - Best Photo of the Year 2010 and a winner of Inside Jazz Competition 2011 at the ChernihivPhotoFest, Ukraine. Her photographs are featured in a number of exhibitions, published in jazz magazines (All About Jazz-New York, JazzTimes, Jazz Inside Magazine NY, Jazziz, JazzFlits, Jazz.Ru, Jazz.Pt) and on CD covers (Motema, Thirsty Ear, Jazzheads, Intakt Records, Mons Records). Lena says: “I love to photograph live jazz events, to capture improvisation as it happens. I try to express through my pictures what I feel the listener is experiencing from the music, to catch something special of the personality from the musician, and to transmit the atmosphere of the performance."

Photographer Enid Farber has been photographing musicians since 1979. For longer than a decade, her photography has taken readers on an odyssey, to experience the most adventurous music and to meet the most interesting personalities, from both the new and traditional worlds of jazz." Farber and her work were featured in Jazztimes Magazine's December 1997 “Classic Jazz Photography" issue as one of the masters of jazz photography. She was the first of her generation to be awarded the Jazz Journalist's Association’s “Excellence in Jazz Photography" in 2002 as well as for “Best Photo of the Year". Some of Farber's classic jazz images were selected for Ken Burns' historic 20 hour documentary “Jazz” and the companion book. In the book, Burns acknowledges Farber, the sole female amongst 14 legendary male photographers, as “an extraordinary group of the finest jazz art photographers in the country".

New York-based jazz photographer Fran Kaufman has a rare gift for capturing the intimacy and deeply human qualities of the music and its makers. From clubs and recording sessions to rehearsals or informally “hanging out," Kaufman's uncanny eye captures striking, offbeat and revealing moments in the lives of jazz musicians– illuminating a rich melting pot of community that crosses generations, color, gender and culture.
