Matt Warnock Launches Jazz Guitar Teaching App For iPhone and iPad

Published: 2012-10-10
Matt Warnock Jazz guitarist and educator Matt Warnock has recently launched a new jazz guitar learning tool for the iPad and iPhone, the “251 Chord App and Chord Dictionary.“

The App has two main features, the first being a 251 chord generator that teaches you how to play countless variations of 251 chords in all inversions and string sets, all with proper voice leading.

From the Website:

“The Matt Warnock Guitar 251 Chord App lets you build custom 251 chord progressions in major and minor keys all at the touch of a button.

You can customize each 251 with the following options, giving you countless new 251 chord progressions in major and minor keys to explore in the practice room and take out on the bandstand.

Every progression is presented with proper voice leading, which minimizes hand movement on the fretboard, making it easy to to move from chord to chord as you bring these voicings to your favorite changes and tunes.”

The second is a chord dictionary that allows guitarists to quickly find new and cool sounding jazz guitar chords that you can immediately take into the practice room or out on the bandstand.

From Matt Warnock:

“When building this app I asked myself, “what would I have wanted in an app when I was first learning to play jazz guitar chords.” This helped us design the app in a way that teaches both specific chord voicings, through the Dictionary, as well as how to apply them to 251 chord progressions using proper voice leading. Making it an informative and practical app for any jazz guitarist to have.”
