December 14, 2001— Philadelphia, PA, Warren Oree and The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble will perform the Po/Jazz Connection on Wednesday, January 2nd at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Po/Jazz Connection will feature UVA who will perform intermittently throughout the evening, and an open mic forum that encourages other poets to perform their work while Warren Oree and The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble weave their music and instruments throughout the poetry, creating a synergy of live, “on the spot” original music and spoken word.

The Po/Jazz Connection: Live at Brave New World CD which was originally released in 2000, has received a resurgence in popularity following a June 2001 WMNF radio concert in Tampa, Florida.

“Poetry and music live and breathe together in the Po/Jazz Connection,” said Warren Oree, leader and bassist of Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble and the brainchild of the Po/Jazz Connection. “It breathes life into storytelling and brings together two dynamic but underrated art forms—poetry and jazz.

Warren L. Oree and The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble have performed at many concerts and festivals throughout Philadelphia and the world. Mr. Oree began his music career playing the upright, acoustic bass and since 1979 has led The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, one of Philadelphia’s more innovative and progressive jazz groups. In 1999 The Arpeggio Jazz and Music Ensemble recorded and released two exciting CD’s, Slow Burn and The Po/Jazz Connection: Live at Brave New World. And in December 1999 Moving with The Dreaming, a soundtrack for the documentary about the plight of Australian Aborigines was released featuring original music composed by Warren Oree. Warren also composed the theme song for two seasons of Through the Lens, a TV program produced by Nadine Patterson for WYBE-TV Channel 35, Philadelphia. Additionally, Warren has composed and produced a jazz opera entitled The Dream Tree and has written and directed a one act play about the effects of prison life on those inside and outside the prison walls called Living Forever, Waiting to Die.
