SUNJUMP RECORDS ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASES FOR WINTER 2009/2010

Jayna Nelson: Bloom Of Creation SJCD0009
Live Concert From The Knitting Factory, NYC
Recorded February 1999 Released December 2009/January 2010

Jayna Nelson, Flute
Matt Schulman, Trumpet
John Esposito, Piano
Francois Moutin, Bass
Peter O'Brien, Drums

“This ensemble was an offshoot of John Esposito's A Book Of Five Rings. Several of the pieces were formatted conceptually using a visual reference or were drawn from personal stories which were shared and then left to the group to interpret. I had hoped to co-create a pure, spontaneous blend of sounds and textures based on trust in everyone's ability to be truly present with hearts, minds and ears totally open to receive and exchange impressions. Each musician brought forward a myriad of diverse skills and personal experiences which deeply informed this final product." --Jayna Nelson

“Like every other disc that I've heard on Esposito's Sunjump label, this one is another unrecognized gem... amazing flute and piano interplay with equally strong rhythm section work... the flute, trumpet and piano weaving around one another tightly and intensely. Throughout this disc the all five members of this solid quintet engage each other and play slow-burning restraint, solos unfolding carefully and consistently intense interaction." --Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery Review

Jeff Marx/Jeff Siegel with John Esposito: Inyo SJCD0008
Recorded February 2009/Released November 2009

Jeff Marx, Tenor Saxophone
Jeff Siegel, Drums
John Esposito, Piano
Compositions by Marx, Siegel, Esposito

The first trio recording of eleven new compositions by Marx, Siegel and Esposito, former members of Second Sight. “The music on Inyo started as a series of melodic sketches. Everything else--the harmony, the rhythmic interpretation and the overall shape of the pieces--was improvised." --John Esposito

“Experiment with form lies at the heart of everything pianist John Esposito plays or composes....unites unlikely opposites... the sound on the album could best be described as unquiet meditations or chaotic lyricism......a true moment of musical Zen created by three masterful musicians." --Jakob Baekgaard, AllAboutJazz.com

“...the superb sound and strong focused playing make this a most compelling offering... What I dig about this is the way all three players interact and give each other some space to deal with at the same time. The music breathes and feels natural with some brilliant moments that consistently emerge... The endless inventiveness of this trio is most impressive and this disc remains a jewel in more ways than one." --Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery Review
