Julius “Cannonball" Adderley was an important jazz figure starting in the 1950s. Influenced by Benny Carter and Charlie Parker, he played with the Miles Davis Quintet and later became a band leader and composer in his own right. He worked closely with his younger brother, cornetist Nat Adderley, throughout his career.
