Tenor saxophonist Mike Kaplan’s Nonet will return to Clifton’s Luna Rossa on Friday April 15th from 7pm-10pm ($5 cover charge).

The Nonet features a six-man strong horn section and supple rhythm section. At Luna Rossa, the band will play an eclectic and exciting selection of material including uptempo postbop, deep down funk, in the pocket swing and a small dash of Latin Jazz material for extra spice. In addition to original compositions by Kaplan and other bandmembers, the sets will also feature material by Thelonious Monk, Cedar Walton, Duke Ellington, Herbie Nichols and a few choice standards from the Great American Popular Songbook specially interpreted by the Nonet. As a special bonus, new original Nonet arrangements of compositions by Wayne Shorter and Jaki Byard will be premiered at this Luna Rossa engagement.

Come enjoy swinging, adventurous jazz and great food at a restaurant with a sophisticated atmosphere (without having to deal with the big city prices or NYC traffic on the way there).
