Whirlwind Recordings label boss and internationally-acclaimed bassist and producer Michael Janisch will be performing a series of special concerts in Midwest America in late January this year with a stellar cast of musicians from NYC in Patrick Cornelius, Philip Dizack, Matthew Stevens and Clarence Penn. On the 23rd, a Whirlwind Recordings Showcase Event for Janisch’s performance in St. Paul will take place where he’ll be performing at Studio Z, and anyone who pre-books tickets will be sent a Free 22-track album sampler which showcases a big swath of the WWR catalog. Simply email your confirmation of purchase to [email protected] and you'll be sent a link to your download. Janisch will also be conducting a free workshop before the show to the public.

On the 24/25 of January, Janisch will be featured as the special guest artist in residence at the 2014 annual La Crosse University Jazz Festival, where he and his band will take part in workshops and performances over the weekend. Janisch will be doing some other workshops as well in the area. Check www.michaeljanisch.com for more information.

Michael will be performing a mix of music from his two latest albums Purpose Built and Banned in London, the latter of which was just named one of the “Best albums of 2013″ by Downbeat Magazine.
