Several notable guest artists have signed on to kick off the trio's debut, among them William Galison (arguably the best jazz harmonica player after Toots Thielemans), who will lend his talent to Berman's new tune Toots, a soulful homage to the great Mr. Thielemans. Likely sitting in will be rockers from Carney the Band, including accomplished rock and jazz guitarist Zane Carney.
78 Below, on Manhattan's Upper West Side, is fast becoming the go-to hangout for savvy music-lovers, attracting the likes of Sheryl Crow and Amy Grant, and many rock, jazz and R&B legends.
The Mark Berman Trio project serves both as a follow-up and a diversified counterpoint to his 2007 debut release, jazz vocal masterpiece The Genesis Project.
